Family carer's clubs gives opportunity to carers to continue to meet when the training finishes. It works on the principle of self-help group; members continue to exchange their experiences about caring, to give emotional support to each other, to solve difficulties together, to search for information about caring, etc.
Family carers meets monthly for an hour and a half to two hours, usually at the same time and in the same place as the training was. On one of the last meetings of the training two or three family carers volunteer to lead the club and all carers are invited to participate. Usually about half of the group decide to continue. Clubs leaders have a short training at Anton Trstenjak Instiute where they get some knowledge about distributed leadership and some suggested topics connected with caring.
“It becomes easier to solve the problems, that occur regularly. Bearing in mind, that there are many other people struggling the same battle, makes homecaring easier to cope.” (Family carer)
